Best Water Resistant Electric Scooters
Water resistant electric scooters are numerous but most are only resistant to a certain extent which generally is not enough for wet weather conditions. However there are exceptions that can withstand most weather conditions which we will go through in this article.
No e-scooter is entirely waterproof
While most will withstand light drizzle it is not advisable to use your e-scooter in heavy rain. However due to the design some e-scooters are more water resistant than others.
Measuring Water Resistance
To measure water resistance between brands we need to use a standard measure. Luckily there is the International Protection rating which is a standardised code, assigning certain measures of resistance to particulates and liquids. The fully assigned code for a product should look something like IPxx (where the x is a number). The first number applies to a rating against particulates while the second number applies to the rating against liquids.
As we are focusing on liquids for the purpose of this article it is the second number we will focus on. The requirements for a product to be assigned a certain number in regards to water resistance are as follows.
(X or 0 means no protection).
- Protection against condensation, or vertically falling droplets, meaning the electronics will not be damaged when the device is upright.
- Protection against water droplets deflected up to 15° from vertical.
- Protection against spray up to 60° from vertical
- Protection against water splashes from all angles
- Protection against weak jets or water from any angle, some ingress has no damaging effects
- Protection against strong jets
- Protection against full immersion, up to 30 minutes and 1 meter of depth, some ingress has no damaging effects.
- protection against full immersion at great depths and extended time periods, specified by the manufacturer.
- Protection against strong streams, jets, sprays and wash downs

What to do if your scooter gets wet?
Turn off you e-scooter immediately, remove the battery and store it to dry. To prevent endangering your safety, make use of waterproof covers or bags when your electric scooter is not in use.
